Four services, working from the same family records.
Most families use two or more together, under a single engagement and report. We coordinate the work; legal and tax advice stays with the family’s own lawyers and accountants.
- Investment Management
- Investment policy, asset allocation, manager and vehicle selection, cost- and tax-aware implementation, and periodic reporting.
- Wealth & Estate Planning
- A review of structures, estate and succession documents, insurance and liquidity, with tax and legal questions put to the family’s accountants and lawyers.
- Family Office Services
- Consolidated reporting across entities, cash and liquidity oversight, adviser coordination, document custody, and preparation for family meetings.
- Next Generation & Legacy
- Family governance and charters, financial education for heirs, structured philanthropy, and facilitated family meetings.
How the work proceeds.
Usually three or four meetings take place before anything is implemented.
- Collect
You tell us what exists and we gather copies: statements, corporate records, trust deeds, wills, agreements, insurance policies. We make no recommendations at this stage.
- Lay it out
Everything goes onto one statement and one structure map, including assets we will never manage.
- Find the gaps
We read the documents against each other and against what the family now wants, and list where they disagree.
- Agree a plan
A plan in plain language: what each holding is for, the main risks, the total cost, the trade-offs accepted, and who acts on each item. Questions for your lawyer and accountant go to them in writing.
- Keep it current
We implement, report on a set schedule, and review whenever the family’s circumstances change materially.
Terms that apply to every engagement.
These are set out in the engagement letter as well.
- One principal
- We work with a limited number of families, and each deals with the same principal throughout.
- The whole balance sheet
- Operating businesses, real estate and private holdings count as exposure whether or not we manage them.
- No proprietary products
- Investments are chosen from the wider market on cost, tax efficiency and transparency.
- Costs and conflicts in writing
- Every cost the family bears is set out and totalled in one figure, and any conflict of interest is disclosed in writing.
- No tax or legal advice
- We prepare the questions and the context. The family’s accountants and lawyers advise and draft.
- Conservative assumptions
- Plans are modelled on conservative assumptions, and return targets follow from what the family’s obligations require.
